Daddy is home!

After 4 1/2 weeks of fun adventures in Costa Rica James is home again and the boys couldn't be more thrilled!  They didn't get to meet him at the airport because he didn't get in until after 10 PM, but they made a poster, so even though they were in bed they could welcome him home.

And he couldn't have come home at a better time.  I managed to taste a poisonous berry the day he was coming home, so it is good that he came home before I could do any more damage!  Our garden was also getting eaten by a deer, so he was able to help me put up a fence . . . . something I was not capable of  doing on my own.

Do NOT eat red shiny berries!
These are the blueberries next to the red berries . . . do these look safe?  I would like to avoid poisoning myself again.

Now he is back to help us with our flowers and garden, and he can help Bryce do the electrical this week!  Yippee!

Lots of lilies in bloom!
Welcome back, James!!!!

Firsts

This week we had a couple of fun firsts.

Today Hyrum got his first hair cut.  He did a very good job sitting and letting her cut his hair.  It definitely could have gone worse.

There is a lot to play with when you are getting your hair cut!
Super handsome new look!

We also were able to put in our garden this week.  We were fortunate enough to have friends help us plow and till a plot.  Then, we worked hard to put everything in.  It was, of course, the first hot day of the summer.  Then, we were supposed to get tons of rain, but . . . no.  So, we went out today to water it again.  It only took 400 feet of hose to do it, but that is enough so that two of us can water at the same time.  Michael and I had great fun, but we always get so dirty.  I'm going to need some gardening clothes, so I don't mess up my regular clothes.  :)   We also have some firsts in our garden this year.  We are trying corn and cantaloupe for the first time!  We are little late getting started but hopefully it will be a great success!

Michael is such a great helper!

Lots of hoses to haul from the house to the garden and back again!

Hyrum's First Birthday

Hyrum celebrated his first birthday!  I can't believe he is 1 already, but alas he is.  We spent most of the day relaxing at home, but in the afternoon we enjoyed a nice walk and saw some animals at the library. Hyrum didn't think the animals were very exciting but his brothers thought they were great.

At home we enjoyed spaghetti and then tried to enjoy cupcakes but Hyrum was not very interested.  He got frosting on his hands and was not pleased.  It was a rough night for Hyrum but we all tried hard to make him happy.

We then managed to help Hyrum open his presents.  I had to make every present disappear, so he would be willing to open the next one.  I'm afraid that his brothers enjoyed his presents more than he did, but hopefully in the future he will enjoy them more when he is happier.  :)

A big plastic ball from Michael.

Anything on wheels is a successful gift in this house.

Wrapping paper is the best.

Books are also a winner in our house!
It wasn't the best birthday party, but we had a lot of fun and Hyrum survived.  Happy birthday little man!
