Doing Fine

Liz had surgery yesterday, and except for the "kidnapped by aliens" feeling, all went well. She's recovering nicely, and now only has to wear these at night.

Yup, enjoy that; I know I am. :)

Games, games and more games

For Christmas this year the boys basically got books, puzzles and GAMES!!! There were a few other things in the mix but not much. We had some friends over a couple of weeks ago and they brought a few card games with them and we fell in love! We found that we could play fun, simple games in 15 minutes or less. So, I thought I would share some of the ones we found and loved ! (most were about $5 or less)

Monopoly Deal-I'm sure you love to sit down and play Monopoly for 2 hours, but I just don't have that kind of time. It is simple fun and always lasts less than 15 minutes. (Even James likes it!)

Scrabble Slam-For you home schoolers out there or well anyone who likes a good game of scrabble I think you will like this. You basically hand out all of the cards (which are just letters), start with a 4 letter word and then change the word one letter at a time. When all of your cards are gone, you win. Simple, fun and fast!

Clue Suspect-I played this for the first time tonight and absolutely LOVED it! You play Clue but without game board and the need to move from room to room. Awesome!

Blink-This is just silly, simple and fast but great for two players (Michael and Joshua to be exact).

Ruckus-I don't know what to say except that it is just fun, simple and again a bit silly. This one is a bit harder to find. Usually a good teacher store has one or you can always find it on Amazon.

There are of course the basics that we've had for a long time but UNO definitely makes our list of favorites. It is also a great game for teaching matching to youngsters if your into that educational game thing. :)

Oh, I just thought of one more but it isn't a card game but I really like it. Connect 4 x 4. If you think you are good at Connect 4 you should give this a go. All of your usually strategies go out the window. Again it is fun but gets you thinking!

And the best thing is that each is now contained in a bag which fits nicely in our card game box. Easy cleanup and little storage space. We have had a lot of fun playing games this holiday and enjoy watching the boys play on their own and with friends that they play with. It is also a fun way to spend time with friends which we have been trying to do more of! So, happy gaming and enjoy the rest of Christmas Break (if you have any left)!
